Christoph introduced the land-atmosphere coupling approach developed at ECMWF which is based on outer loop coupling. He presented results exploring different strengths of coupling and ongoing work to develop coupled skin temperature data assimilation over land using coupled eXtended Control Variable approach.
The ISDA event included other presentations related to land and ocean data assimilation coupling with the atmosphere. The Session was very well attended with more than 100 participants.
